How healthy are Thanet people?
What information is there about the health of people in
Thanet?
Information from the health services is
published through a network of Public Health Observatories linking
all parts of the country. The publications include a set of annual
health profiles for every Local Authority district
in England, including Thanet.
Health profiles show how health varies
between districts, and are used to make statements about
health inequality – the difference in health
between different areas. In Kent, the Kent & Medway
Public Health Observatory (KMPHO) regularly publishes information
on health concerns in Kent districts.
Why is information on health inequality important to Thanet
District Council?
Information on health inequality is
important to the Council because as well as affecting the
well-being of people, health problems affect level and types of
demand for Council services such as housing.
How does the peoples’ life expectancy in Thanet compare to
other areas?
National government statistics on
life expectancy show that Thanet men have the lowest life
expectancy at birth of all Kent districts.....
