What type of work is there in Thanet?
How are the types of work classified in official figures?
Using employer tax returns the
Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) classifies the number of
jobs in different ways for different purposes. For example,
the number of people in work is shown by:
- The types of work listed in
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC2007)
- The types of work are shown by
sector – whether private sector or public sector
- Employment is shown by
full-time or part time
- Jobcentres record the number of
job seekers
Why is information about types of work important to Thanet
District Council?
It is important to TDC because the Council wants to encourage
the building of a balanced economy. Economies that have fewer types
of work available are more likely to struggle in hard times.
