How is my payment processed?

Who is responsible for Thanet Council's e-Payments service?

Thanet Council's Customer Services Department is responsible for the administration of the Council's online e-payments facility.

 

Who processes the payment?

Your payment to Thanet District Council is processed and validated by Thanet District Council's Card Services Provider, The Royal Bank of Scotland's Streamline e-Solutions.

 

Does the Council store details of my credit card?

Selected information from your card is stored by the Council to duplicate receipts or check disputed payments. This is industry standard practice.

 

Full card details are not held. Each time you make a payment, you must complete all of your details. You can use different cards to make different payments if you wish.

 

Financial legislation requires us to store this information for 6 years following the financial year during which the transaction took place.'

 

Does my computer need any special settings?

The bank's secure server supports the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5 and above
  • Netscape 4.8 and above

Within your browser, you will need to have enabled Javascript and Cookies - please note that the bank's server only uses temporary cookies whilst processing your payment and does not leave permanent cookies on your PC.

 

Making your payment

Whilst your payment is being processed:

  • please do not use your browser's back and forward buttons to navigate through the pages; instead use the buttons provided on the pages themselves
  • do not press any button marked 'PAY' more than once
  • until you reach the point where you have entered your payment card details, you may safely abandon a payment by closing your browser.  After that point, please be patient and wait for your payment to complete.

If you experience any difficulties and do not receive confirmation of your payment and a receipt, please do not attempt to make the payment again.  Instead contact our help desk on 01843-577000 for advice.
