Here are just some of the projects that received funding during the fund's first year, from the Safer Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF) prior to the end of March 2007.
The Cliftonville Partnership received funding to buy flowers for the hanging baskets that have been installed along Northdown Road.
A new waste collection vehicle to deliver a doorstep recycling collection to the households of Margate Central and Cliftonville West wards. For more information on this call 01843 577115.
The Kenward Trust was given funding to set-up CCTV in its accommodation for homeless young men. CCTV cameras will also act as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour in the surrounding area.
The Theatre Royal was sold to Thanet District Council and the grant for the purchase and some initial basic renovation work came from the SSCF.
St Paul's Community Centre received a Citizen's Advice Bureau Information Kiosk to enhance their existing and popular helpdesk service. The kiosk provides information in a number of languages including Polish and Lithuanian. Visit the centre in St Paul's Road Cliftonville or call 01843 221290.

Cliftonville Residents Association was awarded funding for the Cliftonville Farmers' Market to buy more market stalls, a gazebo and new seating for the farmers' market and Oval Bandstand.
Margate Civic Society was granted funding for Dane Park to provide improved lighting and seating. A graffiti removal machine has also been purchased which will be used by the Probation Service to remove graffiti in Dane Park and the SSCF area.

An outdoor play space and play equipment have been provided for an After School Club at the Holy Trinity and St John's CE Primary School.
Funding was given to Pipeline to provide a dedicated vehicle and Hang 10 youth worker. The vehicle operated in the SSCF area (of Cliftonville West and Margate Central) for at least three nights a week and in the daytime visits schools and community groups.
Thanet District Council was awarded funding to provide recycling bins for the local beaches in the SSCF area. The bins allow the public to recycle glass, plastic and cans and will encourage the recycling of litter.
Kent Police received eight bicycles, which were used by Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers to patrol the SSCF area.
The Neighbourhood Money Advice Project provided a part-time specialist caseworker to deliver money advice and budgeting skills training in partnership with Thanet Credit Union, St Paul's Community Trust, Health Promotion and Swale Citizens Advice Bureau.
Margate Town Partnership received funding for a stage, lighting stage equipment, a trailer, gazebos and banners for the weekly Late & Live project in the Old Town, Margate.
The Late & Live project provided live music from different bands and jazz performers; street magicians, face painting, paint workshops, alongside BBQs and market stalls. It aimed to encourage people to rediscover the Old Town of Margate, creating a safer, more pleasant environment for residents to enjoy.
Funding was awarded to Thanet's Community Safety Partnership to provide CCTV cameras in Margate's Old Town through to Trinity Square. This will provide a safer environment for businesses, local residents and visitors.
Cliftonville Primary School was awarded funding to transform a space into a wildlife pond area.
SSCF contributed to the Margate Town Library Gateway Project for the refurbishment of Margate's Library. The plans included transforming the Library into a central point where the public can access council services, improved library services and community meeting rooms. Thanet's Gateway Plus re-opened in January 2008.
SSCF funded the purchase of one 7-seater and one 16-seater vehicle for the Thanet Transport Association to increase their capacity to provide transport for individuals and groups at affordable prices. The vehicles were fully accessible with wheelchair access and tail lift to help those less mobile.
The vehicles can be booked for either short journeys, for example to the shops, or for all day trips. For more information, or to book a vehicle call 01843 602030.
SSCF funded Sustainability Actions to find out which community groups and clubs are active in the SSCF area. The survey also found out where they meet and the facilities the users would like to improve.
