We wanted to support local businesses and encourage people to shop more locally and so the Shop Local First Scheme was developed as a pilot in 2009 and ended in December 2010.
What's happening with the scheme now?
We are currently deciding the future of the scheme and will be announcing this shortly. Businesses may continue to use the scheme, but customers* should check before using the scheme.
Why Shop Local?
By shopping locally, you’ll not only enjoy great choice and prices, often just minutes away from where you live but you will also help keep local businesses in business. We want to support local businesses and encourage local residents to shop locally where they can - as the benefits are endless.
Businesses from the following areas took part in the Shop Local First pilot scheme and we are keeping their details online until a decision about the scheme is made:
The pilot scheme has ended and if you have any comments about shopping locally please get in touch.
*Any business on the scheme can choose to continue or stop the incentive they offer to customers, please check with the business to avoid disappointment.
