Working Neighbourhood Fund

We are focusing on:

  • Young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs). 6% of the 16-18 age population
  • Adults on out of work benefits. Of the working age population (72,400 ) 11,600 have no qualifications.
  • Pre- school leavers. 24% of children in Thanet live in households where no adult is in employment.

Our projects are themed to deliver the following outcomes:

  • Reducing a number of NEETs (not in employment, education, training) in Thanet.
  • Get young people into paid employment
  • Increase Thanet’s skilled workforce
  • Improve future employability of participants.

Government Cuts to the Working Neighbourhood Fund

As part of the recent £6.2 billion government cuts to the Working Neighbourhood Fund grant for 2010/11 was reduced by £159,000. At the time of this announcement Thanet Works, working with the project leads, made sufficient costs savings with little or no impact on the delivery of the projects.
