The Thanet Compact was developed jointly by Thanet District Council and its statutory and voluntary and community sector partners to improve the way the two sectors work together. The codes of practice, developed through consultation, contain undertakings by both sectors on how they will work together more effectively.
East Kent Council for Voluntary Service (EKCVS) led the development of the Compact. Discussion began at the end of 2003, leading to the formation of the Compact Steering Group at the beginning of 2004. Thanet District Council approved the final document in January 2005.
The Thanet Compact Implementation Group (TCIG) has been formed to ensure that the Thanet Compact is more than just a document and really does improve working relationships between the Sectors. The group includes representatives from following statutory sector and voluntary/community sector and is working to support local implementation:
You can sign up now on the Thanet Compact website.
To help you implement the Compact in your organisations the TCIG have developed the following guidance material:
The TCIG would welcome your feedback on this material and any suggestions for ways in which local implementation could be further supported. Please contact us on the details above.
