Thanet Compact
The Thanet Compact was developed jointly by Thanet District
Council and its statutory and voluntary and community sector
partners to improve the way the two sectors work together. The
codes of practice, developed through consultation, contain
undertakings by both sectors on how they will work together more
effectively.
East Kent Council for Voluntary Service (EKCVS) led the
development of the Compact. Discussion began at the end
of 2003, leading to the formation of the Compact Steering Group at
the beginning of 2004. Thanet District Council approved the final
document in January 2005.
Implementing the Thanet Compact
The Thanet Compact Implementation Group (TCIG) has been formed
to ensure that the Thanet Compact is more than just a document and
really does improve working relationships between the Sectors. The
group includes representatives from following statutory sector and
voluntary/community sector and is working to support local
implementation:
