Community Safety Wardens
Here to Help
Our team of ten wardens, who are funded by Thanet Council and
the Thanet Community Housing Association, provide advice and
assistance to members of the public.
In their day to day work they deal with a wide range of quality
of life issues across the District. Including abandoned and
untaxed vehicles, noise complaints in social housing properties,
dog fouling, litter enforcement and anti-social behaviour. They
also provide a uniformed presence on the streets and report
problems such as dumped rubbish and faulty streetlights.
Back to school
Wardens have been visiting primary schools across the area,
talking to four and five year olds about the role they play and
community safety issues, such as the danger posed by strangers and
what to do if they get lost. During the visit, they demonstrate how
their radios link back to the CCTV control room, with an operator
speaking directly to the children in each class.
By explaining their role to children, the Wardens can also
discuss the wide range of issues they deal with in their day to day
work. The youngsters enjoy the visits, and learn about the
importance of taking pride in the area they are growing up in.
Primary schools can arrange a visit by the Community Safety
Wardens by contacting the Community Safety unit.
