Arlington Regeneration

Have your say on new proposals for the improvement of the Arlington site in Margate.

The Arlington Planning brief is out for consultation and sets out planning guidance for future developers of this vital Margate site.

This marks the second phase of regeneration for the area, following the adoption of the Dreamland Planning Brief by Council last December.

A mixed use scheme is proposed for Arlington including residential, retail and commercial elements and is hoped will see the creation of new employment opportunities for Margate.

Residents are being asked for their views on the following proposals:

  • Exterior improvement of Arlington House
  • New retail/commercial development with parking on the current car park site
  • New shops and cafes facing the seafront
  • Pedestrian and cycle links creating easier access to Dreamland, Margate seafront and sands, Turner Contemporary, Margate Old Town and the High Street
  • A new attraction, possibly a sea life centre on the beach
  • A new road link along the railway line between All Saints Avenue and Eaton Road
  • A new open space created on the seafront

To have your say:

  • Attend the drop in sessions to view full copies of the brief, speak with officers and fill in a questionnaire.

Wednesday 18 June 4pm - 7pm at Thanet District Council Cecil Street Margate office, before Planning Committee

Tuesday 24 June 11am - 2pm at Thanet's Gateway Plus

Please return all questionnaires by Friday 11 July 2008
