The views of more than 200 local people have helped to shape decisions on the sale of council land.
The consultation, which ran from April to July, focused on 16 sites that the council proposed for sale.
All but two are now set to be sold, with Knockholt Road in Cliftonville taken off the list and a decision on Northdown House in Cliftonville deferred until next year. This is so more research can be carried out on the legal restrictions on the site and discussions can take place with those opposed to the property’s sale about its future possible use.
Residents’ views have helped to change plans for a number of the other sites, with improvements to the parking in the Dalby Square scheme in Cliftonville and further consultation due with local people about the Albion Place car park in Ramsgate, focusing on their concerns about parking and emergency vehicle access.
The council will use the original plans put forward by Broadstairs Civic Society for the Vere Road coach and car park, rather than the ones that council officers had developed and, after comments from nearby residents, land at Greenfield Road may be divided and sold for garden extensions.
More detailed discussions will take place about the future use of the Motor Museum site in Ramsgate and land at Dumpton Park Drive in Broadstairs. Ward councillors and residents who may want to extend their gardens will be consulted about the latter site, along with Network Rail.
The council will proceed as originally planned with the sales of the following sites:
