Over 1,100 local residents had their say on the type of swimming facilities they would like to see in Thanet in the future.
Questionnaires were included in the Council's magazine Thanet Matters, with copies of the survey also available to complete online and at the local swimming pools and leisure centres. Council officers also visited the sites at peak times of the week to encourage people to fill in the questionnaires.
When asked to state their priorities for a swimming pool most people wanted to see a clearly defined swimming area, with a teaching/shallow pool for children the second most popular choice.
The two things that would encourage people to make more use of their local pool was improved physical appearance of the pool and facilities, and a suitable location.
When asked if people would be prepared to see swimming pool provision go down from two pools to one larger pool facility to enable the provision of a clearly defined swimming area and a leisure pool 41% said yes and 51% said no.
