Consultation overview

The Gambling Act 2005, which will be implemented in 2007, makes significant changes to Gambling Regulation. In particular, local authorities will now play a much stronger role in the licensing of gambling premises and facilities.

 

To enable implementation of the Act, Thanet District Council has drawn up its draft Policy document. An important part of the process in developing any new policy is to engage with residents and businesses which may be affected to give them an opportunity to give their views.

How was the consultation carried out?  

  • Full information was available to view on the council website and local press/media were informed.
  • Residents were invited to submit any comments on the proposals in writing by e-mail or letter.

What was the outcome?

The resulting policy was implemented in 2007.  It makes significant changes to Gambling Regulations.
