Thanet District Council’s conservation team consulted local residents on the idea of declaring Dalby Square as a Conservation Area.  This was to cover Dalby Square, part of Arthur Road and Dalby Road.

4. Who was consulted?

  • Cliftonville residents living in and around Dalby Square
  • Local community and residents' groups
  • Local businesses in the area
  • Ward Councillors

5. How was the consultation carried out?

  • Letters were sent out to residents in these areas, ward councillors and local community groups to ask them what they think.
  • Two drop in sessions were held in the area to give local people the chance to find out more and to have their say on the proposals.  The sessions gave residents the opportunity to speak with council officers, view plans of the possible new area and to find out more about what living in a conservation area would mean to them.
  • Full information was available to view on the council website and local press/media were informed.
  • Residents were invited to submit any comments on the proposals in writing by e-mail or letter.

6. What was the outcome?

 

Following the positive support from members of the public, local community groups and local councillors, Dalby Square was designated as a conservation area as of 15 July 2010.
