The availability of physical, social and green infrastructure will be essential to support the changes envisaged in the Core Strategy.
The document includes a preliminary list of key infrastructure and a policy requiring that supporting infrastructure should be available or provided to serve development.
Ongoing discussion with the relevant agencies will enable us to prepare a full schedule of the infrastructure required.
This will identify when it will be needed and who will be involved in funding and delivering it.
Design of development is of the highest importance and will be expected to respect and enhance the character of its location, facilitate access by walking, cycling and public transport, support and enhance biodiversity, reduce crime, and reduce carbon emissions.
The Strategy acknowledges global concerns regarding climate change and associated drought and flood risks.
With the exception of regeneration proposals for central Margate, where safeguarding measures will be applied, development is directed to areas not affected by flood risk.
The council will work with the water company and Environment Agency to safeguard the quality and sufficiency of drinking water, and the quality of bathing water.
