New Residents' Panel for Thanet

The hunt is on for straight talking Thanet people!

Thanet District Council is looking for local residents from all walks of life, to say what they think about the issues that affect them and about the local services they use.

Community Matters, the council’s current residents’ panel, made up of 1,000 residents, has already helped to make a real difference influencing council decisions over the last four years.  People on the panel have given their views on a range of issues, including:

  • What they think of Thanet as a place to live
  • The major crime and anti-social behaviour issues in their neighbourhood
  • How much they recycle and how satisfied with they are with recycling
  • The state of the area’s beaches
  • The condition of housing in the area
  • How they want to be communicated with
  • Enforcement levels
  • The opportunities to get involved in helping to shape council decisions

Community Matters also helped to shape the council’s high-profile Thanet is Beautiful campaign, which aimed to promote the beauty of the area and discourage people from dropping litter.

Being a part of the panel will mean you can take part in questionnaires, online polls, workshops, focus groups and special one off events.  As a panel member you can take part in as many or as few projects as you wish and you will also be able to register specific areas of interest to ensure that we keep you informed and involved in the things that matter most to you.

The new panel will run for a total of four years before being refreshed again.
