Thanet Community Safety Partnership

Suggested ways to spend £20,000

The suggestions below are from the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) panels, residents and councillors.

1. Anti-graffiti paint:  To protect newly painted walls which have been targeted by graffiti.  Approx cost: £1200

2. Extra dog bins and biodegradable dog foul bags:  In Central Harbour ward in Ramsgate, Ellington Park and Newington.  Potential to work with local shops to hand out the dog foul bags to encourage people to clean up after their dogs. New style dog fouling penalty signs designed by children placed in green parks and spaces.  Approx cost: £3000

3. Barriers to the entrance of Tivoli woods, Margate:  To prevent Quad bikes damaging the area and to protect the historic land and trees.  Pedestrians would still have access to the area.  Approx cost: £4000

4. Anti-vandal coloured film installed in windows of empty shops in Cliftonville and Ramsgate:  To help prevent criminal damage and improve the presentation of empty shop fronts.  Approx cost: £6000

5. Crime contact cards:  To report criminal activity in key areas.  For example Viking Play Area in Cliftonville.  Approx cost: £600

6. Lockable notice boards:  To display information about anti social behaviour, domestic abuse and children's services - Invicta House, SureStart Millmead, Trove and Kennedy House in Ramsgate and St Pauls Community Centre in Cliftonville.  Approx cost: £2000

7. Brightly coloured paint on fences and walls:  Project to paint over graffiti with eye catching colours to help discourage further criminal damage.  Approx cost: £1000

8. Street art murals as a diversionary activity:  Art projects involving young people to help divert further cases of graffiti.  Approx cost: £4000

9. Plants and shrubbery in Newington: To improve the children's play areas and open spaces to make the estate more attractive.  Approx cost: £1000
