Consultation process

Residents were asked to complete a survey to identify their main priorities around crime and safety in Thanet and were also asked to help allocate a pot of £20,000 additional funding from the Home Office.

The surveys were available to complete online or could be collected from council offices and Thanet’s Gateway Plus.  They were also available for residents upon request.

The surveys were promoted through the local press and were sent to each of the community groups and organisations on the council’s central clubs and organisations list.

The surveys were completed face to face with residents in each of the Thanet towns and were also carried out in conjunction with the Kent Community Alcohol Partnership event at the largest local supermarket.

Harder to reach groups were targeted directly through a mail out to local organisations and individuals representing these groups, and members of the council’s Renewal Team were asked to complete the surveys face to face with residents from Cliftonville West and Margate Central wards.

Surveys were hand delivered to a number of local businesses to display in public places e.g. cafes, bars and shops.

They surveys were also sent out with the latest Community Matters survey to the council’s residents’ panel.

The PACT panels (Partners and Communities together) were also encouraged to promote the consultation to members.
