Summary of findings

Part A: Crime and Safety priorities

  • Anti-social behaviour and criminal damage were identified as the two biggest problems for residents in their local area.  (83.7% felt ASB was a problem and 82.7% felt criminal damage was a problem).
  • Criminal damage was seen as the biggest problem for residents where they live
  • Anti-social behaviour was seen as the biggest problem for the whole of Thanet
  • When asked to highlight any problems not included in the list, dog foul, litter and road related issues were the top three responses for where people live.  Litter, drugs/alcohol and dog foul were the top three for the whole of Thanet.

Part B: Allocation of £20,000

 

Based on feedback from the surveys the projects below are being progressed:

 

  • Extra dog bins and biodegradable bags to be installed in the area (£3,000)            176 votes
  • Anti-graffiti paint in Newington (£3400)                                                               161 votes
  • Anti-vandal film for empty shops at in Cliftonville (£9000)                                      128 votes
  • Plants and shrubs at Newington centre (£2000)                                                    112 votes
  • Crime contact cards in Cliftonville (£600)                                                                95 votes
