Thanet's Gateway Plus

You said you wanted smaller queues and quicker service

 

We did:

  • Staff on reception now trained to serve all customers, whether for library or council services
  • Installed two self serve computers so you can access some of our services online for example – Planning, Payments, Choice based letting and other council information
  • The Gateway Stewards can advise you how to access services, which may avoid the need to queue

 

 

You said you wanted to know more about the other services available in the Gateway

 

We did:

  • Installed two poster boards in the waiting area to promote the different services/advice and activities available for customers
  • Information is now displayed on the plasma screen and will soon be available on all queue information screens

 

 

You said there should be a clock in the Gateway visible to customers

 

We did:

  • There are now five clocks in the Gateway

 

 

You said you didn’t know the Gateway was open until 8pm on a Thursday and all day Saturday (9am to 5pm)

 

We did:

  • Promoted the extended opening hours in the local newspapers, online, in Thanet Matters and in Your Thanet, Your Council

 

 

You said you wanted public toilets available for customers in the Gateway

 

We did:

  • Customer toilets are now available in Gateway

 

 

 

You said you wanted Gateway staff to look relaxed and approachable

 

We did:

  • Selected staff uniforms on a smart/casual basis which is a direct result of the consultation

 

 

 

You said you wanted a better queuing system because the number doesn’t stay on the screen for long enough

 

We did:

  • A new queue system is to be introduced in early March, which permanently displays information of current ticket numbers being served in a much more useful way

 

 

 

You said you wanted comfortable seating in the waiting area

 

We did:

  • We have introduced a different style of chair into the waiting area and will look to add to this in the future
