Corporate Plan 2007 -11
Foreword
Your Council provides a vast range of different services to
nearly 130,000 residents in the towns and villages of Thanet. We
must ensure that our services offer best value for money and are
sustainable so that we can deliver a better future for our
community.
Over the past few years, we have seen some great improvements in
the Council and in Thanet, including major strides in service
delivery in our waste collection, our benefits service and our
customer contact centre but we still have lots to do to ensure that
all local residents enjoy a standard of living equivalent to the
rest of Kent. To achieve this we must have a clear sense of
direction and purpose in the work we do.
The Corporate Plan sets clear objectives and ambitions for us to
work towards over the next four years. It covers all of our
different services from rubbish and recycling collections to
regeneration and housing. We have identified what we need to do to
achieve our ambitions and when Thanet residents can expect to see
what we have achieved. Look through the themes to see what we
will be doing for Thanet over the next four years.
Looking forward to a cleaner, greener and safer future
Cllr Sandy Ezekiel
Leader
Introduction
Our Corporate plan sets out our aims and ambitions for Thanet
for 2007 - 11 across six key themes. In developing this
four-year plan, we have drawn on information from previous planning
documents and feedback from the community to create a full action
plan. The draft has been shaped by the views of our partners
from the public and private sectors and of the residents of Thanet,
this ensures that our actions reflect the desires and needs of the
area.
We have tried to be clear and specific about what the Council
can deliver directly itself, but the plan also includes aspirations
that can only be delivered through effective partnership working
with other organisations and the community. We plan to measure the
success of our actions along the way by using performance
indicators, which are set both nationally and locally to
Thanet. Each Head of Service within the Council will also
monitor regularly and review annually the Council's aims and
ambitions so we keep an eye on how things are going in line with
our plan.
The plan is built around six key themes:
These themes represent the services that the Council delivers to
the community and all contribute to making Thanet a better
place.
Exciting times lie ahead for Thanet and I can't wait to see
the results of our Corporate Plan making a difference to our
residents.
