Workforce Matters
Can Do People supported Thanet District Council to bring back in
house the Cleansing, Waste and Recycling Services, previously
outsourced to SITA UK Limited and Viridor Waste Management Limited
on 1st April 2006. They managed the ‘reverse’ TUPE of 110 existing
staff from SITA and 6 from Viridor. They also assisted with the
recruitment of another 28 permanent and 9 seasonal staff, who were
included in the TUPE transfer. This was the only contract over the
past year which involved a transfer of staff and it complied fully
with the requirements in the Code of Practice on Workforce Matters
in Local Authority Service Contracts.
