Modern Council

• Be the ‘Employer of Choice’ in Thanet by:

a) improving the working environment for staff

b) renewing the staff package – improve image recruitment and retention

c) reinvigorating the Council’s values – Service, Teamwork, Economics, and Pride (STEP)

• Extend customer contact facilities across Thanet

a) open the integrated library/one-stop-shop in central Margate

b) introduce a ‘Mobile Gateway’ with Kent County Council

• Develop and publish a ‘People’s Charter’ that describes service standards to be delivered by the Council

• Develop Improvement Plan in response to Audit Commission recommendations

• Achieve 3% cash savings year-on-year

• Enhance two-tier working in Kent and within East Kent – for example waste, housing and parking services

• Develop comprehensive information management system to support delivery of Corporate Plan to include:

a) Develop a consistent framework of plans and strategies to underpin the delivery of the Corporate Plan

b) Develop project management arrangements within the six themes
