We want to create and sustain a Thanet where:
- Our beautiful and unique coastline, towns and villages are
welcoming to all
- Residents have a sense of pride in their community and an
excellent quality of life
- A vibrant and secure environment encourages visitors to stay
and businesses to invest.

We want to provide the best possible services to our 128,100
residents but how do we know if we’re getting it right?
One way is by regularly tracking opinions through market
research and consultation to find out what people think about us,
what their priorities are and ultimately how happy they are with
our services. We use the results to shape our services and make
improvements that meet people’s priorities. You can see the results of our most recent
consultation exercises here.
Consultation results have helped shape our corporate plan, which
sets out our six priorities over the next four years:
- Thanet’s economy
- Safe neighbourhoods
- Beautiful Thanet
- Healthy communities
- Quality housing
- Modern Council
These are underpinned by our key ambitions for the
district.
Another way of checking that we are providing good services is
by actively managing our performance. We regularly measure progress
against national and local performance indicators to check we are
on course to meet our targets and track progress against our
aims.
Reports which summarise our progress are produced four times a
year. Find out how we have performed against
some of last year’s key ambitions with this summary. For more
detailed information about all of our performance indicators, see
our Annual Report annex.
