Broadband
Supporting Broadband in Thanet
The Council's websites are under constant development, with the
range of information available widening and plans in place to
develop a far wider range of online services for the use of
residents and businesses, 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours
a day.
As more people become familiar and
comfortable with using the internet, they also become aware of the
limitations of downloading large files or undertaking complicated
processes using a conventional internet connection. We are aware
that there are many people locally who would like to be able to
access broadband services and we are campaiging at national and
regional level for these to be implemented on all Thanet's
exchanges as quickly as possible.
To find out if you can access
broadband, you should visit the BT broadband website
and type in your postcode. If your exchange is not currently
enabled, this is because BT does not consider that there
is sufficient demand to do so.
The villages of Minster, Monkton and
Manston worked together to campaign for rural broadband
services. They were successful in achieving broadband status
for the Minster exchange serving the villages on 3 December
2003.
