Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) was released back in 2001. IE 6 is an old and outdated internet browser. Even when it was newly released it ignored many accepted internet technology standards.

You may experience difficulties with using our A-Z search facility. We are actively seeking ways to resolve this, but in the meantime if the A to Z page states no results found, please click again on the letter you have selected and the results should be displayed.

Following two major upgrades, the current Microsoft standard is Internet Explorer 8. Modern browsers are more secure and give you a better experience online.

We want to be able to be able to provide the best possible online experience at www.thanet.gov.uk . Dropping IE 6 is one large step towards being able to deliver that experience.

Phasing out support for Internet Explorer 6 at www.thanet.gov.uk

From October 12th 2009, you will have problems using www.thanet.gov.uk with Internet Explorer 6.

If you are using a modern browser, such as Internet Explorer 7 or 8, Firefox, Chrome or Safari, you will not have to do anything. Everything should continue to work as before.

If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you should strongly consider updating your browser to the latest version of Internet Explorer or to another browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Each of these browsers is free, well supported and will give you a much better online experience.

Office workstations

If you have IE 6 on an office workstation we advise against trying to update software or install anything new. Instead contact your IT support for advice.
