1	Increase domestic recycling levels to 40% by 2011	Year 4, 2011	5,000 properties added in October and leaflets out to properties in next phase. This has been delayed until September 2008 due to conflict of projects on staff time.
2	Increase by 2011 the proportion of the district that has access to separated waste collection	Year 4, 2011	Zonal cleaning schedules developed and to be approved by Portfolio Holder prior to implementation.
3	Achieve year-on-year improvements in cleaning standards to be in the top 25% of councils nationally by 2011	Year 4, 2011	Project brief has been drafted. TDC involved in drafting Gold Flag Standard Criteria along with Encams. Five authorities are also currently testing a pilot scheme with interim results reported by Encams in March 2008.
4	Increase enforcement action (including fines) for litter, dog-fouling and rubbish dumping to a minimum of 200 in Year 1, 300 per year thereafter – especially in problem areas	Year 4, 2011	312 fixed penalty notices issued during the year. Significant increase on previous years (16% dog fouling and 1,700% Litter and rubbish)
5	Minimise Thanet’s impact on the environment by:
5a)	reducing the Council’s energy consumption by 10% by 2010	Year 3, 2010	Energy Matters is the project to reduce the Council's Energy consumption by 10% by 2010. Launched as part of Accommodators week in November, staff were advised of consumption levels, given top tips to conserve energy and invited to participate in a quiz
5b)	consulting with the community on proposed new ‘green’ policies for Thanet	Year 4, 2011	Awaiting development of green policies, Going Green Group has been established to develop these policies
5c)	extending and improving existing walk and cycle routes in Thanet	Year 2, 2009	Work on Dane Valley and Westwood Road cycle routes progressing to plan. Connect2 makes final 4. Also included in S106 re Thanet College.
5d)	providing secure cycle parking at all railway stations and town centres	Year 4, 2011	Town centre cycle parking survey completed by Thanet Cycle Forum
5e)	promoting best environmental practice in the construction of new buildings, together with the quality of design and materials used	Year 4, 2011	The scope of this project is currently under review. Government Guidance not issued.
6	Improve the green environment within busy areas and on the approaches to Thanet by developing a ‘Gold Flag’ standard for town centres, agreed by residents and businesses	Year 3, 2010	year 2 project
7	Secure two Green Flags for our parks/open spaces	Year 4, 2011	Sites selected and 3 expressions of interest received for consideration by Civic Society submitted by groups involved. No response is expected from the Civic Society until May 2008.
