Safe Neighbourhoods:
Looking forward to 2009/10

The Council recently refreshed its Corporate Plan. As part of this process a number of sub-themes were identified within each theme. The sub-themes for Safe Neighbourhoods reflect the priorities of the Thanet Community Safety Partnership and have been developed in response to the strategic analysis of patterns of crime and anti-social behaviour in Thanet. The sub themes are:

Violence in the night-time economy: Reducing actual violent crime and the fear of crime at night.
Domestic abuse: Reducing domestic abuse, particularly the number of repeat incidents.
Criminal damage: Bringing levels of criminal damage down to compare more favourably with the rest of Kent.
Anti-Social Behaviour: Reducing levels of anti-social behaviour so that it has less impact on the lives of local residents.
Involving Residents: Working with residents to deal with their concerns by involving them in improving safety in their local neighbourhoods.

For details of the new projects identified through the refresh please look at the Corporate Plan. The following table provides an update for the top 5 indicators identified against this theme through the refresh:
