Community Safety
The Crime & Disorder Act 1998 require the local council plus
the local police and other partners to undertake an audit every
three years and then produce a three-year plan to tackle the
problems identified.
The Plan identifies the Partnership's aims, the key themes that
it believes must be addressed and the areas where the greatest
impact is needed. The Plan tells you what actions will be taken and
how we will judge if progress is being made.

Corporate Plan
The Corporate Plan 2007 -
11 sets out our aims and ambitions for Thanet for the next
four years across six key themes.
Cultural Strategy
Thanet District Council recognises the
important role that culture plays in our community.
The strategy will support our
broader objectives, which have already been set out in our
Corporate Plan. We are committed to improving the cultural
offer in our District and the Cultural strategy will
look at how this aim can be achieved and sets out specific actions
that the Council, with the help of its partners, will need to
achieve over the next four years.
Economic Growth and Regeneration Strategy
The purpose of this Strategy is to provide a framework for
Thanet’s continued economic growth over the next 10 years by
identifying the priorities for economic growth and regeneration and
establishing the actions required to deliver them.
Emergency Planning
The Council has its own Major Emergency
Plan, which covers a range of eventualities that ensure that we
can respond, whatever the incident and wherever and whenever it
occurs.
Equality & Diversity
Our
corporate equality action plan incorporates our revised
Race Equality Scheme (RES) and our first Disability Equality Scheme
(DES). Find out more on our Equality
and diversity pages.

Thanet District Council Housing Strategy 2006 -2010
We will use all our energy and available resources to make Thanet
somewhere that is economically successful, visually attractive,
vibrant and stimulating, and a safe place in which to live and
work. We will seek to provide high quality public services
that meet the needs of all residents. (Corporate Plan)
The Housing Strategy will help realise this vision and effect a
fundamental improvement in choice, supply, quality and
accessibility of housing available to Thanet people through the
following key strategic priorities:
- Improving standards and fitness of Private Sector Housing
- Meeting the demand for affordable housing across the
District
- Promote housing activity in the Renewal Area
- Improve choice and access to housing for all communities in the
District
- Tackling homelessness
These priorities are detailed in the new Housing Strategy Action
Plan which can be found at Annex A.

Empty Property Strategy
Thanet has a rising number of empty and derelict properties, and
vacant areas of land. Thanet District Council is taking a
pro-active stance to tackle this issue.
The strategy details issues faced both nationally and in Thanet,
and outlines proposals to address the situation. By working in
partnership with a number of groups including private owners of
empty properties, private developers, housing associations and a
range of council departments we believe we can turn run down
properties and vacant land into assets for the whole district to
create homes, business and community premises.
