e-Procurement
This is the ability of the Council to trade with all suppliers
using email and web technology.
Through Central Government's electronic government agenda, all
local authorities are required to procure goods and services
electronically by December 2005.
The process of change has already started across much of the
public sector and Thanet is currently implementing technologies to
Tender, Order, Purchase, Invoice and Pay for goods and services via
e-Procurement.
The website for the
National e-Procurement Project (NePP) set up by the Office of
the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) provides practical advice and
information.
In March 2005 Thanet District Council commissioned a report by
the National e-Procurement Project.
The aim of the report was to establish the progress that the
council had made. The conclusion reached was that the council
is making good progress and it also highlighted other areas for
consideration.
