Land and buildings to the south of but excluding Hartsdown Sports Centre, Hartsdown Park, Hartsdown Road, Margate
Buildings and land adjacent to Hartsdown Sports Centre
Plan Number 2
£17,500 pa approximately
The site currently comprises a number of mixed commercial, sports and community uses and car parking.
There is a significant maintenance liability for the parking areas, which are not directly associated with or adjacent to the Sports Centre. These areas are in fair condition only. A number of the buildings are in a poor state of repair and in need of upgrading. A number of buildings are not occupied.
Policy CF1 (protection of community facilities) applies.
There are no legal issues precluding development of this site. However, the site and buildings are subject to a number of leases, which will need to be rationalised.
A number of the buildings are under used. A redevelopment of the site would ensure a more efficient use of the site and buildings and could produce receipts to improve community uses.
It may take some time to obtain agreement from all the different occupiers and to relocate community uses.
That Cabinet support the disposal of the asset as being surplus, allowing it to be progressed through the disposal framework, to public consultation.
In disrepair, and not capable of renovation at reasonable cost
YES
Viable alternate occupancy or usage, including community occupancy (reference Quirk report)
Condition of land/property is a cause of complaint and/or breaches Statute or Health and Safety requirements
