Cooling towers and evaporative condenser notification

Persons in control of non-domestic premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must inform Thanet Council, in writing, of their existence under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.

The prime purpose of this action is to enable the Council to identify areas that could give rise to the potential spread of infectious disease such as Legionella, and to assist control measures to eliminate the risk of such infection arising to employees and the public.

What you must do

If you have a cooling tower or evaporative condenser at your premises you need to complete a form approved by the Health and Safety Executive and give the following information:

• the address where the cooling tower(s) or evaporative condenser(s) are located
•  the person(s) in control of the premises and their contact details
• the number of cooling towers or evaporative condensers at the premises
• a brief indication of where the equipment is located at the premises
• any other relevant information

• Tell us about a change to any existing cooling towers or evaporative condensers on your premises

Please note that you will be making your application to Thanet Council via Businesslink’s online licensing service (UK Welcomes) . There is no charge for using this facility.
