This is the evidence base that supports the Core Strategy and documents within the Local Development Framework. The documents listed below can be accessed through this page as soon as they are available.
The Council has to produce a Monitoring Report showing the extent to which saved policies from the local plan are being achieved, and the implementation of the Local Development Scheme.
Our Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment has been published. Maps are currently available showing sites assessed as part of the SHLAA together with sites on a reserve list to be assessed only if insufficient potential is found. Separate maps are also currently available showing sites drawn to our attention by land owners and developers. Many of these sites are in the pool of assessment and reserve list sites for the SHLAA.
In addition, a topic paper setting out draft strategies for identification of housing land and managing its delivery is available.
A Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) has been prepared to present advice and recommendations on the implications of flood risk and climate change.
An Employment Land Review (ELR) has been carried out to assess the allocation of land for employment uses to help deliver sustainable economic growth.

A study has been carried out to assess the retail spending habits across the county and the retail need taking into account populations and housing projections, expenditure estimates and expenditure growth rates. The supplementary Update brings the floor space requirements up to date and incorporates new forecasts.

The accommodation needs of Gypsies and Travellers has been assessed to determine pitch requirements for permanent and transit site provisions across East Kent.
Thanet Council wants to involve the local community more closely in making these decisions. To do this, the Council has prepared a document called the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).
The Council adopted the Statement of Community Involvement on 22nd February 2007.

The Council has held three planning conferences as part of the ongoing consultation for the LDF.
A Planning conference was held on 13th October 2009 to launch the Preferred Options consultation document and to stimulate discussion among a range of delegates to help them later submit responses over the consultation period. View the summary of results - Conference Summary -13.10.2009
The Planning conference held on 18th March at Broadstairs Pavilion generated a huge amount of positive discussion. We have now had the opportunity to read all the notes that were taken at the meeting. We have prepared a Summary of Key Themes that were identified at the conference, and have also made available the Scribe notes from each table
