Statement of Community Involvement

We want to get more people involved in planning the future of Thanet and improve the way we involve you in the new planning system.

The Statement of Community Involvement for Thanet is a new planning document, which shows how and when we will involve different groups, organisations and the community in the process of producing the Local Development Framework (which replaces the Local Plan) for the area and in assessing major planning applications.

There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to become involved in the new planning system. It is important that the community is consulted at an early stage, when your views can make a difference and help influence how future growth and development will happen in the District. Your local knowledge will help to make sure that development benefits everyone while the special character and qualities of Thanet are also protected.

The Council adopted the SCI in February 2007
