Fast Track Service for Householder Appeal

Householder planning applications submitted to the Council on or after 6 April 2009 will be the subject of a new fast track householder appeals service should an appeal be lodged against the Council's decision to refuse permission.

The aim of this is to provide a faster, more efficient way of dealing with such appeals. Appellants will have only 12 weeks from the Council's decision date in which to lodge an appeal, and the Planning Inspectorate promises to make a decision on the appeal within 8 weeks. All such appeals will be dealt with by written representation only, based on the planning authority's application file, and a written statement from the appellant, and third parties, including neighbours will only get one opportunity to comment on the proposal at the planning application stage.

For householder appeals, a new, dedicated Householder Appeal Form is available from the Planning Inspectorate at Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN or online at www.planningportal.gov.uk/pcs. This form should be used to appeal against refusals on householder applications.
