Small Changes make a Big difference
Save money, make friends and help
the environment – join Small Change in Thanet!
Small Change is about people making small changes in their
everyday lives to make positive changes for the environment &
for future generations. Participants from the local area get
together as groups of between 6-8 households who, meet once a month
for 4 months.
As a Small Change Team, the group discusses ways to
reduce their use of electricity,
gas and water as well decrease
the amount of rubbish they throw away. For
example, did you know that if you were to lower your heating
thermostat by 1°C, it can cut 10% off your fuel bills?
You can learn lots more top tips such as these which will
save you money as well as help the
environment.
What does Small change involve!
The programme takes only two hours each month
and it’s a great way to meet and get together with like-minded
people. Small Change includes:
- a monthly practical workshop where thoughts and discussion are
translated into action;
- consideration of different lifestyle and environmental
topics;
- time for measuring (for example, how much electricity team
members use each month).
Each practical workshop is led by a Global Action Plan coach who
can offer practical advice to each Team member.
Small Change is for everyone!
Anyone can take part: friends, neighbours, colleagues,
acquaintances, or members of local interest or community
groups.
To date households participating in Small Change around
the UK have achieved average savings of:
- Rubbish 28%
- Gas 15%
- Electricity 9%
- Water 21%
This means lower bills. So why not save £££s
and help the environment you live in!
