Bulky Waste

Your weekly refuse collection service does not include the removal of large furniture items such as beds, wardrobes, chairs etc.

There are four main options for disposing of domestic bulky waste items:

  • if it is in good condition and useable, please contact one of many local charity shops or second hand shops in the area, they may remove it for you or for you to deliver.
  • take the item to the KCC Recycling Sites.
  • pay a local Registered Waste Carrier to remove it. It is your responsibility to  ensure that the company employed is properly registered with the local Environment Agency - 0800 807060 - ask the question and obtain a receipt, its your proof that the waste was disposed of legally.
  • pay the Council to remove it.  You can pay over the telephone 01843 577115; in person at the Gateway, Cecil Street, Margate; by cheque - sent to the main council office.

We offer a regular chargeable collection service phone Waste & Recycling on 01843 577115  or email: waste&streetcleaning@thanet.gov.uk

Collections are arranged as soon as possible by phone once we have received payment. The charge will vary according to what you would like removed.
