Former tenants’ rent arrears

If you are no longer a Council Tenant and have left one of our properties owing rent, it is important that you contact East Kent Housing immediately on 01843 577263 to arrange to pay your arrears.

If you fail to do this, we can refuse to re-house you in the future.

If you do not respond when we try to make contact with you, we may pass your arrears to a Debt Collection Agency to recover for us.

We may also take court action against you, for example by applying for a County Court Judgement (CCJ). This will affect your credit rating and could stop you getting credit.
