What advice does the service offer?

• How to maximise your income
• How to reduce your outgoings
• General advice about benefits
• Help with advice and applications for the Mortgage Rescue Scheme
• A range of housing options advice and a referral to the team if homelessness is unavoidable
• In more complex cases a referral to relevant agencies that specialise in legal services and debt advice

Why is Thanet District Council offering this service?

Last year Thanet was recognised as a 'hotspot' following a ministerial campaign which highlighted areas throughout England which were seeing an increase in the number of court orders for repossessions and evictions due to increased numbers of unemployment and redundancies throughout the area.
 
As an authority we are launching a campaign to tackle this problem and try to prevent these repossessions and evictions before it is too late.
