Bond Guarantee Scheme

The Scheme is designed to help people at risk of becoming homeless, or already homeless, and there are other conditions that apply.

If you can find private rented property yourself, but haven’t got a cash deposit ready, the council could be able to help.  We can give you advice about a new tenancy and in some cases assist by providing a Bond guarantee to the landlord.

What is a bond?

Most private landlords expect a deposit of one month’s rent up front.  With a bond, no cash deposit is paid, instead there is a written agreement between the landlord, the tenant and the council that the council will cover the cost of any damage or unpaid rent outstanding when the tenant moves out.
