We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Project Officer to develop, promote and co-ordinate on site, a Townscape Heritage Initiative Scheme in a Conservation Area made up of large late nineteenth century residential buildings in one of the most socially deprived Wards in England.
The Project Officer should have a working knowledge of historic building conservation and be able to advise on appropriate methods of repairs and alterations to historic fabric; as well as have an understanding of, and sympathy for, green energy issues. They should also be able to analyse and advise on building specifications and associated costs, attend site inspections as required, discuss site works with contractors and agents and discharge conditions on grant offers. The post calls for someone with considerable communication skills who is used to dealing with the public both at meetings and on a one-to-one basis.
The Project Officer should be a member of ARB or RICS, be IT literate, highly organised and an effective team worker.
TDC has a very successful track record in running such schemes, with a separate THI currently running in Ramsgate. The Dalby Square scheme will run for five years.
The post will be part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Nick Dermott on 01843 577142
All posts include generous annual leave, flexible working (some posts excluded), a 37-hour week, subsidised bus pass, as well as access to the local government final salary pension scheme.
Thanet District Council is an equal opportunities employer committed to employing people with disabilities. Any disabled applicant who meets the minimum criteria for the posts will be guaranteed an interview.
Thanet is a great place to live and work. Our historic seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs are rich in heritage and opportunity. With the multi-million pound Turner Contemporary Gallery, the fast speed rail link to London, and the popular Westwood Cross shopping centre - this is an exciting time to join Thanet District Council. We are determined to improve the quality of life for local people. We believe that by listening to local people, working in active partnership and by being prepared to do things in an innovative way we can accelerate improvement and best meet the challenges ahead.
