The Isle of Thanet has a prestigious and colourful history, which is reflected, in its changing and dramatic architecture. In Roman times the area was separated from the mainland by the Wantsum Channel but it’s now part of the mainland encompassing the three beautiful coastal towns of Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs and eight rural villages. Surrounded by 26 miles of sandy beaches on the south east coast of Kent, it is also home to the only royal harbour in the UK, all this and more are available to film in just over an hour's drive from the outskirts of London.
Our aim is to provide a one-stop shop for film location managers, which is why we offer a variety of services designed to make filming in Thanet a breeze.
Our web pages are a treasure trove of useful filming information and detail some of the unique locations within Thanet. The service can also:
The Council looks after a variety of different areas across Thanet, which include the beaches, seafront promenades, Ramsgate Royal Harbour, the harbours at Margate and Broadstairs, Port of Ramsgate, parks and we own a range of buildings. So, whatever you are after, we're here to help with all your filming needs.
For permission to film on Thanet District Council land, simply download our Filming Application Form and return the completed form by post or fax, together with a copy of your public liability insurance for £5 million.
