The distinctive and historical streets of Broadstairs and St Peter’s are full of charm and character, making it a diverse filming location. Beside the Seaside - The cliff top promenade overlooks the popular beach at Viking Bay, follow the pretty road or take the Edwardian lift down to enjoy donkey rides, a children’s play area, beach huts and a Punch and Judy show. The bay is also home to a troop of local fishing boats, a seafood cafe and harbour. History - The town inspired Charles Dickens to write much of David Copperfield in his holiday home Bleak House, which overlooks the town. Every year the Dickens Festival is held in June and St. Peter's run their intereactive village tour over the summer, both provide the startling opportunity to see costumed characters walking the streets. Popular with Smugglers and wealthy Victorians alike, the town continues to be a favorite holiday resort. Unusual Buildings – From the prominent Bleak House, Crampton Tower and Beehive shaped buildings, the black and white Dickens House, quirky town houses with balconies, pretty Victorian streets to the quaint fisherman cottages, unique and unusual shops - you’ll never without a perfect backdrop for filming.
Art and Culture – Its literary and cultural connections go back many years but today art, poetry and dance are on offer all around the town. Viking Bay is a popular location for local artists and the town’s galleries provide an array of seascapes and landmarks for sale.
Café Society - The smallest of the towns in Thanet, Broadstairs is often referred to as a 'mini Brighton' with its trendy cafes and pub scene overlooking Viking Bay. Every August the town is transformed during the annual Folk Week celebrations, a Mecca for international Folk musicians, when the streets become free of cars and a party atmosphere fills the air for this popular event.
