The bustling coastal town of Ramsgate
has a vivid display of historic and modern architecture and
its maritime links provide endless filming
locations.
Beside the Seaside – Stylish and modern kiosks nestle among
traditional donkey rides, a children’s play area and café, on this
wide sandy beach. Close by is an original 1950’s arcade, ice cream
parlours and seafood stalls.
Harbour History– Stylish yachts and powerboats are
moored in the UK's only Royal Harbour, which also boasts the 18th
century Sailor’s Church & Smack Boys Home, Jacob's ladder, a
stone staircase which provides direct access from the cliff top and
the Maritime Museum which details the areas rich and colourful
history. The nearby port provides the only ferry passenger service
to Ostend.
Unusual Buildings – From Regency Squares,
Edwardian crescents and Victorian town houses, Almshouses, Pugin
Abbey and gothic houses, flint cottages, a 1930’s boating lake and
cafeteria to the modern developments on the seafront and the
regeneration work around the town centre offer diversity down every
street.
Art and Culture – A quirky array of art can be
found around the town and on the beach. Murals adorn the pavilion,
giant hands with molecules stand on the Western Undercliff and a
brick sofa and chair sit in Charlotte Court providing a surprise on
every turn.
Café Society - A mix of
fantastic buildings line the harbour side including the unique
Customs house, the pretty Jazz Room and the cosmopolitan Miles Bar.
Head up into the town for individual shops, a weekend market
