Margate is a popular seaside town with an array of iconic sights ideal for filming.
Beside the Seaside - The wide sandy beach has donkey rides, a kiddies play area, café and boating pool, while the promenade enjoys palm trees, traditional seafood stalls, penny arcades, modern chrome seating and sturgeon lamps.
Unusual Buildings - From the prominent Droit House, Regency and Victorian town houses, the momentous Galleria building, the 1930’s Lido, the Flamingo arcade, the Clock tower, the unique Shell Grotto, the thatched Tudor House and the unusual Bauhaus houses. Cultural Quarter – Local art is shown in an array of Galleries in the Old Town while a range of stylish cafes, including the Harbour Cafe, Impressions and Cafe G serve alfresco food and coffee in the cobbled Piazza overlooking the sea. Unique shops line the streets and popular seaside paraphernalia is sold on the seafront.
Historic - The towns colourful history and changing seaside history is reflected in the cobbled streets of the Old Town, 17th century flint buildings, an early 19th century Courthouse and Council Chamber with Victorian prison, 1920’s amusement park with a Grade II listed Scenic Railway Roller Coaster.
For permission to film on Thanet District Council land, simply download our Filming Application Form and return it to us completed by post or fax, together with a copy of your public liability insurance for £5 million.
