The first Sport 4 Life programme was a massive success with over 70 adults taking part and attending 425 times. Feedback showed that all participants aimed to continue the activities after the initial 10-week period.
Sport 4 Life is aimed at encouraging more adults in Thanet to participate in Sport. Have you been wanting to try a new sport or are you looking to get back into sport that you may not have done since school! Well Sport 4 Life aims to do exactly that by providing fun, friendly sports activities to keep you fit and healthy.
Thanet District Council 'Sport Matters' team up with a range of local organisations and sports coaches to offer a 10-week programme to get you started. Once you find a session you enjoy we will then link you up with existing clubs/sessions in the district.
It is estimated that over 80% of adults in Thanet do not do enough exercise to improve their health and fitness, which is why Sport 4 Life aims to tackle these barriers.

'Sport 4 Life' are pleased to be offering Just Play! Kickabouts - a new, informal and fun way to get back into football. Just Play! Kickabouts will be taking place at Jackey Bakers astro pitch supervised by qualified coaches. To make playing footy as easy as possible, we've created a new, fun and informal way to play the game. Just Play! kickabouts are great for when you want to play without committing to a weekly game, a complicated league or fancy team strips. It’s all about loose, casual play. So any excuses about fitness or levels of experience should be left where they deserve to be at the bottom of your kit bag. Don’t leave your love of football back in the day. Ursuline Sports College
'Sport 4 Life' Return 2 Netball is organised and delivered by Thanet District Netball league and is aimed to encourage adults to make a return to the sport.'Back to Netball' sessions are now running for girls who want to start playing netball again, but who feel they are not confident enough, or maybe do not wish to go straight back into League games.'Back to Netball' is FUN!! It provides an opportunity to refresh basic skills and play friendly, non competitive games. Whether you want to play for fitness and fun or want to progress on into the League, these sessions will suit all standards of returners to netball. Please see the bookings page for more details.

Hartsdown Leisure Centre
'Sport 4 Life' learn 2 swim sessions are aimed at providing non swimmers who may have never had the opportunity to learn to swim when they were younger. The sessions which are delivered in partnership with 'Thanet Leisure Force' aim to build your confidence to return to the water by delivering a 10 week beginners course. The sessions are delivered by qualified ASA instructors and are the perfect way learn and keep fit at the same time. Please see the bookings page for more details.

'Sport 4 Life' running sessions are delivered by 'Jelly Legs' running club which deliver fun social running groups for all. The sessions are designed to enjoy keeping fit whilst having fun and making new friends in a safe, friendly environment. With us, running is accessible for everyone - men, women, mixed groups and families of all shapes, sizes and abilities. Many of our members started running for fitness and fun, having overcome their fears of ‘I can’t do it’. We provide excellent support and friendly encouragement to anyone wishing to begin running, regardless of their circumstances.
Tuesdays 5.30pm - 6.30pm
'Sport 4 Life' indoor circuit training is delivered by qualified fitness instructors and is a form of conditioning training to increase strength and muscular endurance. The sport 4 life circuits are designed to create a full body workout in a fun, social environment. The sessions are a great way to meet new friends as the circuits are all group based activities. Sure Start Centre Millmead
'Sport 4 Life' beginners pilates is a complete body toning exercise which aims to increase your flexibility, core strengths, and improve your energy levels. The beginner sessions are a fantastic way to relax whilst developing the bodys core strengths. The sessions are taking place at the Sure Start Centre in Millmead delivered by a qualified pilates tutor.

Hartsdown Technology School
'Sport 4 Life' beginners Kickboxing is the perfect way to keep active and develop your skills in this martial art. An active sport that requires repeated bursts of movement, kickboxing promotes heart health by providing a cardiovascular workout. As with most total-body workouts, kickboxing requires increased physical activity that burns fat, tones and builds muscle and can lead to weight loss.
