  • Advice on how to get started
  • Coach education programmes delivered at local venues (working with Kent County Council Sport Dept)
  • Funding towards National Governing Body qualifications
  • Making contacts with local clubs

Coaches Register

Thanet District Council is working with Kent County Council and the University of Kent to compile a comprehensive list of all sports coaches operating in the county.

The register will enable clubs and organisations to search for coaches that may be able to help them out either in a voluntary or paid position. It also helps you promote yourself, network with other coaches, get access to funding opportunities and information on coaching courses to help develop further.

To get your name on the register please visit www.kentsport.org/coaching.

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Checks

Coaches, whether paid or acting as a volunteer, should be asked to complete an enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau by their club.

Many National Governing Bodies (NGB’s) of sport provide a service for these checks as part of their coach education process e.g. Football Association. If you are unsure contact your sport’s NGB for further details.

For those sports that this does not apply, the CRB provide ‘umbrella bodies’ that can complete the checks on behalf of the club or individual. Thanet Leisureforce are a registered body so please contact them on 01843 868302 or e-mail: info@leisureforce.co.uk

If you are unsure about whether or not you require CRB checks please contact us for further details.

New Vetting and Barring Scheme - Delayed

The government has announced the suspension of the introduction of the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) pending the outcome of a comprehensive review which is likely to result in re-modelling and significant scaling back of the scope of the scheme. The scope of the re-modelling process is currently being finalised and will be announced in due course.

Stay up to date with announcements by visiting the Kent Sport website.
