The Council is responsible for a number of sports facilities across the district ranging from grass pitches, to tennis courts, multi-use games areas and leisure centres.
A local leisure trust, Thanet Leisureforce Ltd, have responsibility for managing many of the leisure facilities on behalf of the Council, delivering health and fitness opportunities for people of all ages throughout the District. These include;
Thanet Leisure Force also manage the bookings for outdoor playing pitches in the district. These include football pitches, cricket pitches, the Astroturf pitch at Jackey Bakers Recreation ground and the Palm Bay pitch and putt course.

The District Council also owns a number of tennis courts, multi-use games areas, skateparks and adventure playgrounds. Access to these varies with some being freely open, others being run on a pay and play basis and some being run by local clubs. Bowling/croquet greens - all of the Council owned facilities are now managed by local clubs. They deal with memberships and set the costs of hire. To find a list of local clubs please visit the TDC Community Portal or call 01843 577528.
