Licences & Trading
The Council licences a wide range of people, premises,
activities and vehicles - everything from taxis
to entertainment venues and tattooing to street
collections.
Licensing Act 2003
The Licensing Act, 2003 became law in July 2003. Guidance
has been issued by the Secretary of State to Local Authorities. The
Council has published its
New Licensing Policy Statement, which came in to effect on the
7th January 2008.

Premises that have not applied to the Council need to take
action to be able to continue to trade. If you do not have a
premises licence from the Council you cannot sell
alcohol, provide regulated entertainment or hot food or drink after
11.00pm.
The Licensing Authority is required to review its policy every 3
years and make such revisions to it as are considered
appropriate.
