Council meeting Webcast rearranged for 25 February

Due to a fault with the Council Chamber microphones, the planned pilot webcast of the council meeting could not take place. The first webcast will now be the next full council meeting on 25 February 2010.

The council chamber microphones were switched off last night (17 December) as they developed an intermittent fault. The decision was taken within the meeting to continue without the use of the microphone system.

Cllr. Simon Moores, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, said: "It’s unfortunate that we were unable to go ahead with our pilot webcast, but when we do, we want to offer the best quality that we can to test the demand for this new service.

Without sound, we are unable to webcast the meeting as planned and apologise for any disappointment this may have caused. We are discussing the sound problems with the company that provides our microphone system.

Resolving the problem with the Chamber microphones is a priority for us and with the webcasting solution already set to go, we look forward to running the pilot in February to see how this new technology might improve the service offered to our customers."
