SeaART showcases Thanet coastline

If you’re a local artist inspired by your coastline, then you could soon be showcasing your work as part of the eighth SeaART festival in Ramsgate.

SeaART aims to promote the wealth of works by artists who live or work in North East Kent and are inspired by the coast and the marine environment. The theme for this year’s event is Creativity on the Coast and Aspects of the local Coast and Sea.

Organised by the Thanet Coast Project, SeaART takes place from Saturday 13 to Monday 29 August at the Belgian Café and coincides with the Ramsgate Arts Festival’s Summer Squall, taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend. It features new exhibits of contemporary visual artwork, sculptures, installation and photographs.

Artists can register their interest to take part in this year’s event between now and Sunday 7 August by visiting the Thanet Coast Project website Works need to be submitted to the Belgian Café on Thursday 11 August. There is no cost to artists to exhibit.

Cllr. Chris Wells, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Over the last few years, SeaART has featured the work of many local artists and has helped to showcase our beautiful coastline. I’m sure this year’s event will be no different and will once again feature a wonderful variety of exhibits from people who live or work in the area.”
